Best tag editor for Mac by far, but could be better...
I just got rid of my Windows laptop, where I used a FREE, robust mp3 tag editor, Tagscanner (I donated $20 to developer). I have not found an equivalent for Mac OSX. Music Tag Scanner 2.6.0 is the most robust tag editor I’ve found for a fair price ($6), but I would love to see some improvements (see review below):
Pros:
- Easily and intuitively batch edit metadata for all your mp3’s
- Batch rename multiple files from user selected metadata
- Saves your changes as you edit and asks to confirm quitting before changes are saved. Nice!
Suggestions:
- Customizable columns such as sort by “Album”
- Please remove prompt/notification that says "files have been saved!”
- Please remove prompt to “save over original file” and make option in preferences to save files in new directory (overwrite should be the default)
- Please save only files that have been modified. Saving changes to unchanged files = redundant
- Would love built in playback controls: play/pause, stop (vs the “preview” button that takes opens a new window)
- Would love to start playback by double-click the song (vs showing file info)
- Please create “apply to all” checkbox for “lyric” field
Looking forward to singing praises for improvements, Thanks!
